I saw both a Pro Shadow and Ultra Shadow listed for sale today with no description except,"Limited Edition". Does anyone know the scoop on these?

Pro Shadow???

Where did you see them listed, gun show, Kimber web site, dealer?

Wonder if someone substituted "Shadow" for "Eclipse". Kimber makes a Pro and Ultra version of the Eclipse.
I saw the listing on www.gunsamerica.com.
Look under,"new today". It was listed as Pro Shadow and Ultra Shadow with a limited run of 500 units.
Interesting. Both posted at a retail of $761. Too low to be Eclipse variants, from prices posted over the past couple of months. Maybe it is a new variation. Kimber did kind of "leak" the news about the Eclipse before they put the popup on their website, and then they announced a limited edition Gold Match in 38 Super along with the Eclipse. Must be "Stealth Marketing".
Just got the sheet in today that describes them.
Pro & Ultra
Aluminum frame, blued slide
Night sights
Gray grips (assumedly ala Eclipse)
Checkered front strap
Stainless safety, grip safety & slide lock.

That's what it is as far as I remember. It's slightly upgraded version of the regular Pro & Ultra's. They run a little over a 100$ over the regular versions, and will be in a run of 500 & 750 (though, don't recall which was which :)
How do you guys like the aluminum frame? Any failures? Do you see any oxydation occuring due to dissimilar metal contact? Does this design result in a slightly heavier Muzzle.
Thanks for the education!

Sounds like an all black CDP series. Wonder if they will remain "limited production" (i.e. Eclipse) if they catch on?

BTW 44lite, what was your source of information? I don't see any thing on Kimber's web site and my around the corner master dealer pleads ignorance. Claims he talked with Kimber sales today and nothing was mentioned. Maybe he pleads correctly.

Odd. Other than a heavy melt on a stainless steel slide, different wooden grips and an ambi safety, and trigger for about $10 less, this IS a CDP. The suggested list is about $200 lower, though. Looks like a bargain, if one is interested in the CDP features.
Difference between CDP and Shadow; It's not a stainless slide, it's not melted, no ambi's. Different grips.

I just got the letter from Kimber yesterday to requalify, and these were on the letter.

the guy at Kimber said that they're really just doing it to clean out some "extra parts" or somesuch. It's a good value, but the CDP still has some advantage.

I emailed Kimber at [email protected]
and then went to my local gun shop and the owner called them. He was told they would be shipping them in October.

Hi, Folks -

Relative newbie here…both to handguns and these particular Forums. I'm just now re-acquainting myself with the 1911 platform (I've had a SA M1911A1 in 9mm for 15 years but I haven't fired it regularly for about 12 years) and I'm looking to purchase a 1911 in .45 ACP for CCW and recreation. I've been lurking around these forums and putting in some time at the range and I've heard a lot of good things about the Kimber product line. My specific question is about the Kimber Ultra Shadow II. It looks to be just about the type of package I'm looking for and my local dealer has one available for about $700. It seems to have most of the features of the CDP line for about $150 less…do you think that this is a good price for this pistol? Thanks for your help!
