I just built a caspian pistol and everything has worked out so far except for one thing...im having trouble cycling the slide because it acts like the barrel doesnt want to tilt and move smoothly back because it keeps catching on somthing, so in order to cycle the gun, i have to push on the front of the barrel/slide with a considerable amount of force in order to unlock it from whatever it is binding on, Im not really sure if its the top lugs or what? The top barrel lugs actually get stuck inside the lugs of the slide. any help would be appreciated

Get a magic marker and mark every contact point. Hand cycle it a few times and see where it is rubbing. Then remove a little matreial from the heavy contact points and do it again. Do this multiple times, removing a little at a time until you get it where it needs to be. Remember it's a lot easier taking off than putting it back on!

Also check that the link is not binding or being "pinched" by the barrel feet.

slide & barrel lock up

Sometimes, if the barrel is a few thousandths too long at the hood extension,
it won't allow the barrel to tilt downward without force. You can take a dial caliper and measure from the inside lug recess of the slide to the breechface.
Then measure the barrel from the hood extension to the first lug. Also, you
can use smoke, lay-out die, or even a magic marker on the end of the hood extension where it contacts the breech, then cycle the slide several times.
If you see rub marks, then the barrel is too long, and some careful removal of
metal will fix it.

Did you establish the correct clearances on the Barrels Lower Lugs? First of all, coat the barrels surfaces with Lancelot Black Colored Marker and cycle the slide a few times. Disassemble and look at the marks on the barrel. You can see if the binding is on the bottom of the Barrels Lower Lugs or try a loose fitting Bushing. It just may smoothly go into battery. If not, look at the marks now highlighted on the barrel. That will tell you how and where to correct the overly tight surfaces. NATIONALMATCH

Good suggestions so far. Could be a number of things.

A few questions:

1. How did you measure and fit the barrel hood length to the breechface and the other two upper barrel lugs to the slide lugs?

2. Do you have the same problem getting the barrel to unlock when the slide is removed from the frame?

3. How long is the barrel link?

4. Does the slide bind immediately or will it move a bit before binding?

5. Do you have just as much trouble getting the slide to go fully forward as you do unlocking it?
