Very new to the 1911... and I need to know what part I need (and where to buy it) in order to convert a SS-TRP from the standard FLGR to a configuration that will let me pull the barrel bushing without having the 5/32-in. hex allen wrench handy.

Is there a 'button' or 'cap' of some sort that goes over the end of the spring w/a shoulder that indexes into the bottom of the bushing ?

(I am not interested in debating the merits of full-length vs. half-length guide rods -- I've recently learned on this forum that the guide-rod length is controversial. I simply want to know what part is required to modify my TRP so I can test-fire the gun w/both guide-rod configurations to determine which is better for me in this one firearm).

Many thanks -- CC

If you want to stay with a FLGR just get a one piece FLGR. You won't have to use the hex wrench anymore but you will probably need a bushing wrench.
