fellow acp's,
anyone know if the polished series 70 (45 acp)was stainless or nickel? if it was nickel, has anyone had experience in re-polishing? showed much holster-wear. (which makes sense, eh?)
i saw one at a local (not-my-favorite) store, and didn't want to show TOO much interest too soon, you see. and, any idea what the 'good' catagory price range might be?
many thanks!

Nickel. Stainless Colt Governments were not introduced until 1985. I'd pass, as nickeled Colts in good shape are very easy to find right now.

You can't do much polishing on a nickel plated gun. I got one cheap that FLD had tried to brighten up as he was used to doing with stainless. He polished right through the nickel and exposed some of the copper "strike" that acts as a primer to bond the nickel better than directly to steel. Sold it later, should have kept it. It was ugly but it shot ok.
