Having looked at the reverse recoil plug in a buddy's gun, I have to question the longevity of such a setup. There just seems to be such little material on the flange of the reverse recoil plug that mates with the inside of the slide that I would think that it would peen itself out and come out the front of the slide after so many rounds. Am I off base? Does anyone have any comments?

The collar on the guide rod plug is not the impact area and it's fully supported anyway. The reverse plugs do crack sometimes longways but it's fairly rare. Lot's of them in use with no problems, nothing to worry about.
