I am about a week away from ordering a Tactical 5.0 in .40cal. I was wondering if there is a way to also shoot 9mm. Could I get a new comlpete upper or can I just get a replacement barrel.

Can this even be done?

If I was able to shoot both .40 and 9mm, my daughter and I could shoot the same pistol.

The breechface is different for 9mm and .40. Bob will have to chime in for specifics about that. The extractor's different, too.

Do you reload? If so, just download some .40 rounds to a lower velocity. It will solve your immediate problem plus you'll gradually be able to work up to full power loads as she develops the necessary skills to handle full power ammo.

I have seen people just replace the barrel but I would not recommend that. Your best bet would be a new top end.

just buy an SVI and you can get conversion kits in any caliber you want!
