In my search for a 1911 I found something interesting at a local shop. It was an Enhanced "C.C.O."(marked on side of slide),but the Officer's frame and the Commander top end were stainless steel. The guy at the shop said both were coated in Nickel teflon (I don't know enough to tell either way). Had other usual "Enhanced" features --weird beavertail, extended (non-ambi)safety, flat top, fake novak's, and plastic "skeletonized" trigger ala Defender.
I thought all concealed carry officers were two-tone with aluminum frame?

Hit enter before I finished my message.

I don't know how rare this model is, but I do know that quite a few of you guys like these enhanced models. If anyone is interested I'd be more than happy to send you name of shop and phone#. I don't have a stake in this, nor am I looking for an Enhanced Colt--otherwise I wouldn't have told anyone.
Gun looks to've been fired very little (shop claims @20 rounds). They want $799 for it.
Decent price?

The top pistol is the original CCO.
The middle pistol is an XS CCO.

Both have alloy frames and s/s slides.
...and, btw, the "fake novaks" are every bit as good as the real novaks.

The Colt CCO is the ideal carry .45.

I didn't mean to imply anything negative about the sites being "fake" novaks. In fact I noticed that I liked the Colt sites better than real Novak's because the rear site only has one focal plane instead of the multiple ones offered by the over-complicated genuine article.

Agreed. There's a lot of nonsense out there about sights.

Hope you saw what the CCO's actually look like.

Thanks for the pics, but I still suspect that the one I saw was a rare version. It has exactly the form of the first one in your picture (two-tone, no forward serrations) except the one I saw was one-tone with wood grips and no ambi--but the same outline as the safeties in your pic (maybe a cross between the first two in your pick). And from hefting the gun--I do think the salesman was correct in saying that the frame was stainless steel instead of aluminum.
I suspect you're probably right about the C.C.O. being a near ideal carry .45--I'm just not much of one for the "enhancements." Now, if money ever permitted, I could see crossing an early stainless Mk IV Officers' with an early stainless Commander. That would look smokin'.

New to the forums here, but I do have the first series of the CCO produced. Mine is the two tone model. I believe I purchased it in 95 or there abouts. It is without a doubt the BEST carry gun I own. It is pretty much mil spec when it comes to frame and slide fit but the bushing and barrel fit to the slide and frame is the best I have ever seen. Even on my Kimber the CCO is tighter in this regards. Superbley ergonomic without a sharp edge on it, and accurate to boot. I have alittle over 3k rds through the gun and most of that came within the first 2 yrs of owning it. Never once has it malfunctioned. Not anything of anykind. Mine has the single side safety and the modified "beavertail" safety. The gun is totally stock except for the grips. Purchased a set of black silver logo'd colt grips for it used. I have never changed the springs, although maybe I should but it still works 100% with the originals in the gun. The trigger is stock and has smoothed out and breaks at just a little over 5lbs with just a bit of take up with no creep after the shot. My eyes are sort of old now so I blacked out the white dots to give me a better sight pic. I believe the sights were designed by Semore(sp?) and Bill Laughbridge as was most of the design of the gun. The only thing I have had to do to the gun when first purchased is to drift the front sight to the right a little bit. Shoots point of aim at 25 yds. and where your looking at closer tolerances. Empties eject to my right rear all the time without a ding on the cases. I only carry 6rds in the mags though. The price listed above seems abit exhorbitant but if you want a gun like that it may not be. Depends on what you want. Can't tell you all what a fine piece it is. Has all the bells and whistles one could want, a great barrel to frame and slide fit, very good ergonomics, is lt. wt., and most of all 100% reliable all the time. Keep'em sharp
