Hi, fellow gun owners and colt 1911 enthusiast,
I have an opportunity to buy a Remington Rand in very solid condition. Based on the information from the seller, it shall be a 1944 production where all parts are from the same manufacturer. Frankly speaking, too good to be true. From what I saw it seems legit to me, however, I have seen too few pieces and have poor knowledge to be absolutely sure.
I attached all the photos I have and would like to hear any opinions and thoughts from you.

The pistol has markings on the frame and barrel that are not original to the pistol but I can't tell what they are.
Also, the grips are not original to the pistol.

European proof marks, I think German. Or Czech. You are pretty well stuck with those under CIP regulations.

That looks like a type 3 slide to me as well.

This is a type II slide, the letter spacing is bigger

Those are German proof marks. I have the same on my Ithaca

I was thrown off by location. Most type 3’s font usually sits further back from the take down cut. But it is a type 3 font.

Very nice pistol. Looks just like the one I carried as a Marine in the 1970s. Thank you for sharing.
