Hey everyone,
I finished modifying the frame on my 1911A1 MKIV and need to refinish it. I know that there's a post about this in the forum right now, but I wanted to confirm my plan with those that know.
All modified surfaces have been smoothed progressively with up to 1500 grit paper.

I was planning on dipping the frame in a muriatic acid solution, then bead blasting with 17.5 micron Aluminum Oxide, then using a manganese-type parkerizing solution kit.

Is this finishing process compatible with Colt steel?

If anyone has an alternate DIY method that they think is more appropriate, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks very much,
BFM

PS, I know this might seem like sacrilegious to some of you, but the finish on this gun needed some serious help before I got my grubby hands on it. I'd rather shoot a legend, than drown it in preservatives.
