I'm really startng to like my light weight Kimber Compact. I'm thinking of ordering replacement recoil springs from Wolff. The factory is 22#. I reload and shoot 200g bullets over less than max loads. Should I go with a lighter spring? Does a lighter spring provide less protection for the frame?

What about other springs? Replacing the recoil spring seems simple enough, what about the sear....?

What maintenance manual would you recommend for BASIC care?

Thanks,
tjg

Pinetree,
I do not shoot compact 1911's but, you have the right idea in decreasing spring tension if you are decreasing loads. The compacts seem to be more finiky from what I have heard so it will involve a little trial and error on your part. As to the manual, I would buy the one from www.wilsoncombat.com for basic maintenance. It has good photos as well as good descriptions.
