Looking to replace my Henie Straight 8 rear sight with a two dot night sight. I have always preferred the 3 dot lineup for quick target acquisition . What models will drop into the slide? Have the allen and loctite ready, but can't find any specs on what type. I'm assuming it's considered a 1911 Novak Dovetail Cut Model.

Novak rear and Springfield front, at least it was on my Valor when I replaced the Heinie sights with a Harrison rear and Dawson FO front.

It's actually NOT a Heine straight 8 sight on the Specialist. it's DW's own proprietary sight used as a cost saving over the brand name Heine. It's one of the many ways DW can price the Specialist, which has more "features" and customization at a cheaper price than the Valor.

So I see this is old but no definitive answer on what the cut is on a specialist. Just got mine and I prefer some adjustable 3 dot. So what is the cut on the sights (front and rear if known)

I don't know why the Specialist is cheaper, but that ain't it.

When they made the change to the in-house rear sight it was for both pistols.

Around that time several of the parts they used were switched in this manner and the model name changed from the etching to being milled out.

I've shot a valor, and I went for a specialist. SWMBO will have it as a bedside gun so I wanted a rail to put the laser on. Other than the rail I can't tell the difference, but then again we are talking about a Dan Wesson either way. I see a pm9 in the future for SWMBO, and I'll get the specialist back full time.
