Remember Baby Finster from Looney Tunes? My "Baby Rock" is also a problem child. It's been my project gun for a while now, made me mad the first time I shot it, and now when I let other people shoot it they don't want to give it back.

The innards looked like they were made after a three day weekend with dull tools in the dark, but patience and a file can right a lot of wrongs.

RIA Satin Nickel shipped with pearlite grips. I think it's delightfully tacky. Love it so far. Just got it today.

Started as a RIA Standard FS...then I got a little carried away. Good shooter, trigger worked down to a crisp 3.5lb, mix of Wilson Combat and EGW small parts fitted, and maybe most importantly...I have all the original bits if I want to undo it all ;) It's shinier in person.

Is that a shade of green on the frame? Looks good

No, it's factory blued (or whatever they use...). Just took the pic under ancient, poorly color balanced, CFL lighting. :)
I purchased this over 25 years ago. Had it about a year and then had a LOT of custom work done. All internals and cotrols have been changed. And to make it worse, have never shot it. The Rattlesnake grips were made from the skin of an Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake that bit me back in the early 90's, on my cousin's farm in Kentucky. Also had a bracelot (snake backed on cowhide), wallet, and belt buckle made. Still have them around.

Got this last fall, no frills special. Full size, 10 MM. I hit a gallon jug of water right where I was aiming in the label at 25 yards. I have since put it in moth ball for when and if I need something heavy duty for a woods adventure.

I kinda like the hybrid grips. I've had Pachmyars on both 1911's I've owned, but there's something about the wood grip panels that will always be appealing to me.
