RRA Delivery Schedule

No recent experience, but I placed an order back in 2001/2002 timeframe. I was quoted 6-8 months. After a year, I was getting anxious. After 15 months, I was getting angy. At 17 months, and getting the exact same story as I was told at month number 8, I cancelled my order. I never looked back.

I ordered my LM August '04 and received it June '05. But it was so worth the wait. Sweet pistol.

In late December, I had a few LMs on my shelf.

elivery depends alot on options chosen. I have had a hiccup here and there over the years, but RRA usually makes delivery on time or within 60 days thereafter. This is not unusual for a made to order pistol. What adds to this is RRA's government contracts, and the fact that Chuck is instrumental in each facet of his company and the chief pistolsmith. If your dealer had any experience with RRA, he would have known this and told you up front. I always give my customers a cushion, and I am very up front about it.


As a matter of fact, I placed a few special orders at that time, and I can tell you for certain that the build time for a basic LM with a blued finish was being quoted at 6-8 months.

Thanks for the comments guys. No, mine is not a special build, the sole difference from their standard LM is the no cost option of 25 lpi checkering.

I ordered my LM in April of 2004 and it was delevered in December. Yes it was worth the wait, no I wouldn't do it again. It's a nice gun though!!! If the opportunity comes to get another RRA without a long wait, I'll be all over it!

I just got my LM frame back from RRA, and they threw in a RRA logo cap.

They charge $20 to reblue the frame.

I plan to run a lot of ammo through it this weekend.

Can't wait for that next batch of RRA 1911s to hit the shelves.

Wait times...

My LM took 2 years, due to problems with the sub doing the finish. Stick with the "usual" finishes and you can avoid that problem.

My Wadcutter was off-the-shelf and took 2 days.

The hardball gun was promised at 6 months and arrived in 4 months.

Chuck gets busy around July with the matches and Perry. I can't imagine much is being built for a month.

All that said, I use my LM the least. But no regrets, the gun's great!

I just got mine back today that went in for some adjustments. It took 5 months 1 week.

Everytime I talk to RRA they say they're really busy getting new guns out... so hopefully they're pounding through their waiting list. I sent my gun in in the middle of July because the front sight fell off and the pivot pin on the rear adjustable sight broke.... and I still don't have it back! And that's a 15 minute repair job. I should have handed a local guy $20 and had them fix it... heck I would have fixed it myself but I wanted the front sight pinned and don't trust my drill press operating skills that much

I ordered a EC 5" in April. I added the optional Black T Finish. In May I called to see if it would be to late to change the front strap checkering to 30lpi instead of 25 as I had finally gotten the chance to compare the two. I even said if it would delay anything not to worry about it as I'll love it either way. I was told a frame hadn't been assigned to me or something so it was no problem. I called late August just to get an idea of where they were at. I was told my gun had amost been ready to send off for the finishing but then they had to start over when I requested the change in May :hrm: . Oh well hopefully I'll hear from them soon.

It's really no big deal as I just started Dental School and literally have next to no free time anyways. The fall semester is 25.5 hrs of credit. Still I hope to hold it soon.

So, in my follow and attention to this thread, the wait times are about 4-6 months on complete pistols and repair? I am thinking about ordering a few blank frames for myself. I wonder what the wait time would be for such (no checkering, no finishing). Has anybody had any recent experience in ordering just a frame, slide, or small parts?

I got a call Friday from miss Ulanda saying my pistol would ship Monday. Great!
I ordered it last November and was quoted 4-6 months. The thing was is that I called back after 6 months to change my order to just a frame and slide combo but the said it was too late and that the gun would be ready in a couple weeks after they sent out guns for bluing , well 3 months later my gun is ready supposedly. This damn thing better be right cause a bluing job should not take three months. :hrm:

I pulled the plug on RRA in I think it was 09/02. After waiting over 18 months on an 9 month promise, I pulled out. Sent my money to a smith for a custom job.

Yeah from what I read here, '02 was about the peak of the wait times.

Recent reports have it now in the six-month range, but it seems like it's creeping up there again. This is without Black-T or any special finishes.

There are still at least 3 or 4 for sale on the auction/gun sites.

But then, half the fun (?) is making out the exact spec you want...

From my looking for a Limited Match this past week I've found that there are a couple EC's and Basic LM's floating around out there. I don't quite understand how that is when I read of so many people waiting for their own guns to be built.
