I recently bought a limited match, and I called them. They said the standard spring was 16lbs.
He asked me if I shoot wads or ball, I said ball, he said I should change to the 20lb spring, which i did.
I also recently received my 5" EC and was curious as to which recoil spring was installed from the factory. According to the person I contacted, he said the pistol techs install a 16.5 lb spring in this gun as standard, which is what they do all fitting and accuracy tests with, and they (the techs) recommend changing it to a 20 lb. spring if 230 gr. hardball is going to be fed through the gun. That is their recommendation and is what I am going to do with mine as soon as I run a few hundred of the 185 gr. Federal Gold Match through it for break in . An easy load to shoot well and build confidence in the guns' accuracy potential.
All pistols that were shot and tuned with 185 grain rounds come with a 16.5# and the 230 grain test ammo comes with 20# spring. Alternative spring poundages are installed upon request.
Thanks Dr. Bob. You have confirmed what Steve told me. Met Robert from RB yesterday at the fun show here in Cedar Rapids, and he mentioned your FFL had come through. Keep us posted as to progress of your shop.
Yes, now I remember. We were specifying the heavier springs, they weren't standard from the factory. Sorry.
