I noticed that the firing pin block components of my S&W 1911 are deactivated by the grip safety. Is this the way all series 80's function, I thought that in the Colts it is deactivated by the trigger?
The Colt design is series 80; deactivated by the trigger.
S&W is not series 80.
I haven't examined them myself but I'm told that even though Kimber and S&W are both grip safety (de)activated they do not work the same way.
