A discussion elsewhere about the merits of magazine disconnectors reminded me that it may be useful to note that ANY Smith & Wesson 39/59 series pistol can be manipulated to fire with the magazine removed.
That's one reason it is a bad idea to merely remove the magazine rather than securing the pistol when entering a jail - as was again recently suggested. It was a bad idea 30 years ago, and it's still a bad idea.
I'm most familiar with the 39/59, but other pistols with disconnectors may have similar quirks.
