I have one of the early EDC X9’s. Does anyone else’s have a scratch at the rear of the trigger like in the attached photo? I asked Wilson and they say this is “normal”, and is caused by the shoe rubbing against the frame, but it’s hard to believe Wilson would design something this way. Obviously this is purely cosmetic and doesn’t matter, but just curious.

Mine has more scratches on it. Totally normal with any 1911 or 1911ish gun.

I have 12 Wilsons, all have the wear marks on the trigger, it is completely normal. You will not find a 1911 with out the marks.

Scratches, I look at as character. as long as my EDC X9 goes bang when I pull the trigger, I don’t care about a few scratches

Mine doesn’t have any scratch marks on the trigger (750 rounds). Most every used EDC X9 I have seen has worse scratches on the trigger than yours.

I logged into gunbroker and searched used EDC X9. There are 4. I‘m using my phone to view the photos and it appears 3 of those 4 used EDC X9’s have worse scratches on the trigger than yours.

I’d say it’s completely normal. I’d wouldn’t worry at all about it. I like to call marks like that “Character” marks. It just shows that the gun has been fired. I actually like stuff like that.

Some parts of a 1911 (or similar gun), certainly including an AT-finished trigger, will show evidence of the effects of friction and/or wear. It's inevitable with use, sometimes even inevitable from the relative minimal use incurred during Wilson's extensive test-firing of each gun... just to make sure everything is in order.

Always remember the "Combat" in Wilson Combat's name means these are combat-ready guns:rock:, even though very few buyers are planning to go on combat missions. If they were built for aesthetic display purposes, they would not be put through the Shop's extensive test-firing routine.

Yep, perfectly normal. The trigger finger movement is not executed by human beings in exactly the same movement, straight back with no lateral movement, each and every time. There has to be some clearance in the trigger/frame interface to allow free movement of the trigger assembly to ensure trouble free trigger manipulation, so some side-to-side movement of the trigger will occur, causing some finish wear on the sides of the trigger.

I remember when I got my very first 1911 less than a year ago (wasn't a Wilson). Very soon after I began seeing those little scratch marks and rub marks. More on one side than the other. I thought it was my fault and my lack of proper trigger control. First thing I did was get with a very experienced instructor to take lessons and asked him about them. His response was "don't worry about it". I stopped worrying about them and now after 3000 rnds through that particular one, wow the trigger looks like it's been through WWI and II. That particular pistol is a Sig We The People and is made to look old. The trigger is by far the worse looking item.
