After I changed out the sear spring (Nowlin)in my Sistema it began to intermittenly fall to halfcock on pulling the trigger..(dry firing only, no live fire with new spring yet)By pressing the very bottom of the grip safety with my thumb I can make it fall to halfcock almost every time....What gives?? It didn't do this with the old spring which I still have...I know I can reinstall the old one, but I'm still curious????

The right-most tine of the spring engages the grip safety. Try to make the new spring's tine to fit and look like the old one. Does Nowlin recommend that spring for bone-stock GI 1911A1's?

Without seeing it,I have no clue.Normally this would be caused by very little sear spring pressure or incorrect hammer/sear angles, but to be able to push the grip safety all the way in and have it trip the sear is unnusual. My first guess would be out of spec parts, maybe the arm of the grip safety touching the sear in a way to partially move it and the original spring was heavy enough to mask it.?! Kind of a stab in the dark there.Have someone look at this thing, this is very odd to me.

Thanks to all who responded...I changed back to the original spring and all is well...The Nowlin was actually a bit different and evidently didn't put enough pressure on the sear...Originally I did the switch to try to improve the trigger pull...No difference...What did make a large difference was changing the Main spring...Dropped the pull by about 30%...Really surprised me....
