I've got a medallion that keeps falling out of the Ajax grips that it came in. Elmer's wood glue didn't work. I'm now trying model airplane glue. Will this do the trick?

(The two times it's popped out, I was lucky to find it. Probably won't be so lucky a third time.)

Model airplane glue won't work too well either. It's for plastics.

Best bet is to buy a pack of 5 Minute epoxy at Wal-Mart.

Clean everything off, put a dab in the hole and the medallion is there for good.

I picked model airplane glue thinking that I might get a bond between the plastic and wood.

Yep, epoxy will work great. Might also try some gap-filling CA glue available from hobby stores...careful with the CA, it'll glue your fingers together and your eyelids shut!
