Who here has been in an actual self defense situation? What were the circumstances, and what was the result?

Given the current legal and political climate, you probably won't get many replies. American Handgunner and other gun magazines often have interesting (real life) self defense scenarios.

I concur. I am still involved in a multi-gizillion dollar suit regarding a tactical event where I was the Incident Commander and it was 8 years ago.
I know of a fellow who used OC spray in what seemed to me (based on his explanation, of course) to have been a very justified incident. It took 2 years and $20,000 of legal fees for him to put the incident behind him. And that was just for OC spray.

... which is why you should always politely ask the perp if he has legal representation before you decide whether or not to resist.
