I recently picked up a 70 that was in real good condition except for the slide. It had some corosion on the slide as well has someone had tried to do an amatuer blue job on it. I bought the pistol and had the slide parked and had a trigger job done with a chip M. and hammer along with a beavertail.
Replaced the sights with some three dots and took it to the range. 350 rnds without a hitch. Gun looks great with the two-tone finish(park slide and blue frame) and is a tack driver. Looks like I found a good carry piece. Just wish it had had the box and had been in mint condition, but then I would'nt have gotten it for 300 bucks.

Thanks DSK. I saw those slides you were talking about. I also can get a pre 70 series slide still wrapped up, but I just came back from the range and after firing 650 rnds without a hitch I'm afraid to tempt fate and fool with the gun. Besides the park finish on the slide looks excellent.
