More verbal appropriation: The suspect used an "Assault pistol" as per the LA Sheriff.

To me it seems that no one in any position of power wants the citizenry armed. Why else re-define words like?

What makes an Assault Pistol? Is it shaped differently? Does it have a bayonet lug? No. All it had was an extended magazine.

Hell, Colt's first revolver had a spring-out icepick to do to your enemy what the puny 5 rounds didn't.

You know, in the old days they said "cockup before consipiracy." Now I am far more willing to think that it's a Conspiracy gone Wrong. There's nothing "innocent" about the habitual mislabling of firearms in the press. It's all on purspose. Prove me wrong.

I'm starting to get really mad about everything related to the government. I wonder how many more feel like I do. Like everything after '63 is a fake (I was bornin '69, but after much living I'm convinced JFK's assasination was a coup d' etat.)

You are not wrong. The widespread misinforming of people re: gun facts is widely known by the media themselves. (Slate even admitted this in an article sev. years ago “If the media wants a healthy conversation about firearm laws, it needs to stop getting basic gun facts wrong”. (The Media Keeps Misfiring When It Writes About Guns)

What is interesting is that Slate here is admitting it is not only true, but known to be true, widely known, virtually taken for granted among the media themselves. This begs the question: If getting their facts wrong is a known problem why not correct it? The answer is obvious and suggests these inaccuracies are not errors but deliberate, and on purpose.

If you know there is a widespread problem of false information, ignorance, and bias among your own industry, and do not correct it, when the tools to do so including research staff are at your fingertips, it is deliberate.

Here's another that just hit the news and was immediately reported with the inclusion of the CA event:

NBC:: Luisiana Night Club Shooting

Took about 30 seconds with Mr. Google to check out the location, Dior Lounge & Club, find their event advertising, and observe that the event was hosted by "Da Real Music Boy" with event security provided by "Gudh A** Derrick" and "Mr Die Litt" (no doubt a security outfit that rates right up there with Blackwater...). The event posters just reinforce all the stereotypes you might imagine from the names.

Make your own conclusions, but to me this sounds like just another gang-on-gang shooting with a bunch of hangers-on and other associated people caught in the cross-fire.

I'm really starting to believe that the Dems have come to believe that this is a form of population and welfare control and their own spin on managing crime. Wash their hands of it all and let Darwinism take its course. As long as the Dems can continue to buy the votes of inner-city dwellers with taxpayer money, they simply don't give a rat's patootie how many of these ethnic minorities kill each other.
Considering the history of demokrats in America as absolute racists and supporters of slavery and hate against blacks from the KKK to civil rights violations to eugenics used against blacks by Margaret Sanger in her creation of Planned Parenthood (which the demokrats fully support with federal funding), all of which demokrats falsely blame on Republicans. You are absolutely correct. If demokrats actually cared about the well being of blacks, their history against them would be different.

As you correctly stated, demokrats only care about using blacks and all minorities as a means to an end. Getting their votes to get and keep them in power. If demokrats ever got their goal of achieving permanent power (which would involve removing the Constitution and instituting a communist system of totalitarian government with them in charge) their true faces of racism, hate, and bigotry would come out and those minorities that might complain would be executed or placed in re-education camps because that is what communists have historically done to silence their opponents.

Don't count on it. There's a MSM article that I won't link to explaining how California's strict gun laws may not have prevented this mass shooting, but they have helped stop others.....
....
THIS is the crucial observation: The MSN propaganda narrative that even as bad as this was, CA's gun laws are effective. The emphasis is, as always, on the firearms to create the rational for ever-more gun control laws.

There are a number of other nearly identical news reports from several different MSM outlets, and every one of them is repeating this exact same propaganda narrative. The only significant deviation is that a few of them also throw in selected firearms related fatality statistics from other states (all red) to "prove" that CA's gun-control laws are "the best in the country" with the clear implication that those laws should be emulated everywhere, to include at the national level.

The speed and uniformity of so many various MSM outlets all reporting the exact same editorial stance is once again proof that the Dems all march to the same beat played by a centralized drum.

Truth, to the 'mainstream media', is neither a moral nor metaphysical imperative; it is a tactic, and a commodity, best utilized in small doses, in order to push a larger lie: That those who wish to disarm you, strip you of your ability to defend your freedom and life and rights, have your best interests at heart and are no threat. I am not surprised they are still saying the laws are something to impose or emulate. They won't be truly happy until slingshots and potato guns are illegal, and only the government has guns.

Though I agree that the majority of MSM folks are embarrassingly uninformed about the world of firearms, I don't think it's usually intentional, but rather the product of lazy reporting, resistance to educate themselves, and a desire to rely on a few gun-related buzzwords that they think make the story sound more knowledgeable than it is.

I worked for several years as a host of Morning Edition at a small local NPR affiliate station. The people I worked with certainly didn't like guns and certainly went out of their way to demonize gun ownership, but they weren't intentionally making mistakes about the technicalities of firearms. They just didn't care enough to seek out deeper knowledge of the subject matter. Every pistol was a Glock, every rifle an AR. You know the drill. They were banking on the fact, no doubt largely true, that the majority of their listeners were/are just as clueless about guns as they were themselves, so why bother to learn more? My frequent corrections to the story compilers were universally met with rolled eyes and shrugged shoulders. No change to the copy. It didn't take long to see the futility in trying to inject some learning into their world.

I did get a kick out of it when the occasional reporter would try to stick a few knowledgable sounding buzzwords into his/her copy, thereby revealing even deeper ignorance. One story talked about a "high caliber" rifle used in a shooting. Ah, yes. The high caliber rifle, not to be confused with the low caliber rifle, the soft caliber rifle, the hard caliber rifle, the cold caliber rifle, and the warm caliber rifle.

I do not have fond memories of my (few) long ago visits (on business) to East LA. Of course, most people there are decent folks, let's not blame them....but the problem is everyone else.

And yes, the mainstream media reporting is as stupid and/or dishonest (take your pick) as one could imagine.

Yes, thus they should not comment.

Basic rule of reporting, know wt-f you are taling about. Or do as WH Press thing does, deflects all questions to other parties.

When people know they are uninformed and refuse to rectify it, that is intentional, especially if they pass themselves off as informing others.

(But I could see where they would figure what's the point of learning about the topic, the only people who would spot any improvements in factuality are people who know guns, who they aren't going to convince to support gun control anyway.)

Half moon bay, you are kidding me right! I have been there a number of times. Lots of money and a very homogeneous population. I am very surprised by this.

7 People Dead After Another Mass Shooting in California: Report (msn.com)
Just saw that on my google news page. Also Asian victims/perpetrator.

The suspect, 67-year-old Half Moon Bay resident Zhao Chunli, was taken into custody at about 4:40 p.m. after he was found in his vehicle in the parking lot of the Half Moon Bay substation, the sheriff's office said. He was taken into custody without incident and a weapon was found in his car.
The victims are Chinese farmworkers, Half Moon Bay Councilmember Debbie Ruddock said.

My heart genuinely goes out to all of the victims. But you know that nothing would make the CCP happier than for the US government to institute strict gun control measures nationwide. Can not imagine why but they have come out publicly in favor of this on a pretty regular basis.

I've heard that too, several times China has called for US gun control. As to why, I recall a statement that an Axis gentleman allegedly made in WWII that one should not invade the US because there were too many privately owned guns. something about a rifle behind every blade of grass.
I'm of the opinion that the CCP doesn't need to invade anyone, because they can merely get politicians around the world to copy their policies (like lockdowns, social credit [i.e., digital identity'] etc.). But gun control would be a big help to anyone who did...
No reason to single out the CCP tho, pretty much every other country hates the US 2nd amendment because it makes their own governments look bad, their people look to us and say "how come they are free to do X and we aren't?" I mean pretty much every other nation has little or no true 'gun rights' and so we make them all look bad to their own people. Look at Canada.
