This year at SHOT Show 2023 Beretta had so many new releases from themselves, Tikka, Sako, and Manurhin that they hosted their own, private Range Day to display them all. We were in attendance and one of their newest announcements to come out is the Beretta 92Xi SAO (Single Action Only) handgun. With an attractive appearance and an improved trigger as well, this should be a popular pistol among the Beretta 92 faithful.

Introducing the new frontier for the 90 Series – the 92XI. The 92XI brings the long-awaited frame mounted safety to the standard 92 family of products, as well as a single action only variant and various ergonomic enhancements. The frame mounted safety offers an ambidextrous solution, bringing the safety lever more in reach with natural ergonomics.
If you haven’t already seen it, our sister-site of TheFirearmBlog.com (TFB) and one of their own sister-site YouTube channels of TFBTV Show Time has already posted a video on the Beretta 92Xi that can be watched HERE. With a frame mounted safety, stylish looks, and an upgraded X-treme S Trigger built specifically for single-action only shooting, this looks like another winner from Beretta. As always, let us know all of your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.

I hope this shoots as good as it looks. I reserve the right to wait and see for myself before I say anything about this firearm

I put in an order for one almost a month ago, and it arrived yesterday. In three words: I LOVE IT!
The first few I had were 92FS issued guns. I'm a dipped in gold Sig guy but was immediately dazzled by how smooth the Beretta was. It was a hoot to watch the slide going back and forth over the barrel. I immediately started carrying it, shooting a lot for proficiency to pass the company quals.
Everybody who saw it wanted to shoot it, and proclaimed their joy for it. I was used to 9mm and finding ways to overcome "that weakness." The one big "Why'd they do that?" was the safety. Ridiculous. Thought so then, think so now. I bought an early European 92 with the mag release at the bottom of the grip frame. Wonderful gun, a true pleasure to shoot.

So. The Type 92Xi, the "9211". It's as smooth and easy to use as, well, SURPRISE! A Beretta 92! Anybody surprised? This one is all grey or silver, with black controls, and the wood grips. Received with 2 magazines. BUT, no manual. That must be viewed online or downloaded. I won't list all the things that make this a "New Frontier" as Beretta likes to say. You can readily find the descriptions online. Things that stood out for me are the dovetailed front sight, the frame-mounted two-side safety and almost-flat trigger. The grip frame has checkering front and rear, and I'm sure the checkered wood grip panels helped. The top rear of the slide, in front of the rear sight, is prepped for a red dot sight. I'm an Ol' Guye so I like good fixed sights, and the rear sight has the widest cutout I think I have ever seen. It makes finding them and using them very easy. I know people who filed out that opening on their Pythons because they are so tight they are hard to line up.
Another feature I don't use is the rail under the front of the slide. What I found it meant to me was that the gun fits none of my Beretta holsters. I'll have to buy a couple more to accommodate it. Oh boy.
Some guns need a break-in of up to a hundred rounds or so. No Beretta I have ever had, did. This one was no different. I checked to see it was properly lubed (it was), and just started shooting. A hundred flawless shots later I was debating driving the 17 miles home to get more ammo.
If you want one identical to this one, Beretta says it is a limited edition, so get your order in now, and bite your nails until it comes. Costs $1180. Similar models go for about $950.
It's a Beretta. You can't go wrong.
