Hi, thought about posting it in 'competitive shooting' but it's not 1911-related.

My shotty has 5 chokes:
full, improved, modified, improved cylinder and cylinder.

Which ones do I use for skeet, sporting clays (is this 5-stand duck tower?) and trap, respectively? Thanks.

Skunkabilly,

For skeet use either a skeet choke or cylinder choke.

For trap use chokes from modified to full.

For sporting clays you had better bring them all if they are similar to the sporting clays courses around here. Distances can vary from 10 - 50 yds depending on the course.

skunky, old Colt told you right. I might add; for trap, 16 yds, modified is plenty good, 27 yds. full, improved mod in between.

I prefer the slight choke of skeet over cylinder for skeet. Thinking cylinder may result in blown patterns, but you should check it out yourself. 30 in. circle at 40 yds.

sporting clays, like Old Colt says, what you see is what you get. Most clay courses skeet and imp cyl will work but not always. Good luck, have fun, be safe.
