I have decided to lock back the slide on an empty pistol, insert a full magazine and drop the slide stop. Messing with it isn’t worth it really.
I am curious to see if any other owners concur with my assessment of the factory serrations…..

Your 1911 is a work of art. One option is to have two slides, one to live in the safe and the other for the range.
Better yet, get another 1911 built for the range.
Yeah,,, I don't do safe queens though...

If your problem is racking the slide on the first round only, you might try starting with the magazine out. Pull the slide back and engage the slide stop, insert the loaded magazine until it is seated, and then pull the slide back and let go like when you are reloading.
