Newbie question:
In falling plate matches, I have been loading new mags by flicking the slide stop down with my thumb, without touching the slide. Based on something I read, I have started wondering about too much wear on the slide stop. Is it better practise to pull the slide back that fraction of an inch of travel that is left, and then flick the slide stop down, and then release the slide?

sounds like falling plate matches require alot of speed so im thinking your doing it correctly with the slide stop. Worn slide stops are easy to replace , the place to watch for wear is the slide stop notch in the slide, usually this area is hardened but may need dressing up with alot of shooting.
