Forgive me if I have the terminology wrong. I am wondering if I can drop a new slide which contains a firing pin safety onto a series 70 slide?
Are there any mods I would have to make to the series 70 frame to accept an 80's slide?

Also, if possible, where can I pickup a commander length slide that does not use the FP safety? I like the way my SA GM is setup without one. Thanks.

Sure, as long as the FP plunger block is removed, it will function, just need to ensure the fit.

The Dust cover of the SA GM is longer than that of a Commander, so you may need to scour Brownells for a slide that will work. The "Stirrup" at the front of the slide will need to be shortened to ensure reliable cycling, although I have swapped tops on some of my guns in the past without any problem.

Most of the manufacturers that offer slides and frames produce Non S80 type slides. Brownells is probably the best "One Stop" shopping though...

Good Luck.

Thanks, it's really a lousy pic, just snapped a quickie to post it... when I finsh the slide on the Kimber, I will post some better ones, with a concetration on lighting, and do my impersonation of Ichiro

The Commander is still a ways off from doing a "Quality" photo... I still have a lot of work left on it...

The Para 9x23 Hi-Cap is still just parts

Hi Jaydee

also the rail on the Govt frame is longer
the commander slide will fit and may funtion fine? but it will not have the same "time" for the round to come up with the longer rails of a govt(iirc .130) and shorter rails on the commander slide(more than .130)
