I have recently begun a love affair, which is not yet consumated, (I haven't bought one yet) with the 1911 frame. I've been offered a small frame, shot just a few times, sorry I don't know the terminology, 40s&w in stainless steel for 675 dollars. Is this a fair deal? Are there magazines available for it? What is parts interchangability? I saw the post below, if there were that few made, mags may be hard to come by. Should I pass and let it go to a collector. thanks kyle

The value of the pistol you were offered will depend on the manufacturer and the model, you did not say. I do know Colt did make some Commanders in .40 S&W, but I do not know if any were made on the Compact, or Officers, frame. We will need the input of others on this board for that information. So without more information $675 seems a bit steep.

Concering the magazine question, .40 S&W and 10mm use the same magazine. So availability should not be impossible, but they may not be plentiful.

I hope this helps.

The Defender was available in 40, you would have to check on the mags tho.
