Another thread about how I gave up the research after a while and just shelled out for something, anything....
I got a Blackhawk CQC Serpa black holster for my (still cooling off..) S&W Stainless 1911 from Gunbroker.com, or rather Gilbertsguns.com.
It seemed like a useful starter holster, time will tell if it will actually fit my yet-to-be-developed style...
A little experience and talking to shooters will be helpful next time around.
I'll snap a pic or two of the holster too, whenever the range report is submitted.
Also: called up my local indoor range, asked about allowed ammo.
Only restriction: No aluminum casings. Supposedly the guy shoots his .50BMG in there. Wow. Don't know if this is a good or a bad thing.
