Zero to 100 yards a red dot type optic is fine, but if your intending to shoot 500 meters you might need to go with a regular powered scope. I use a Trijicon Tri-Power on my duty rifle and can make hits at 100 yards with no problems.

Personally, I sight in for zero at 200. Then the 100 yards is not a big variation, and the hold overs for further yards out to 600 will not be a big deal either.

I guess it also depends upon the convenience of getting to the range you'll be shooting at.

My range goes out to 600 and is just a freeway drive away.

small range test

I took the socom to the field. shot about 150 rounds at close range due to 50 mph winds. It should be on target at 100 yards with no adjustments.Had one FTE after 50 rnds more than likely old military ammo. Thanks for the info I"am going to think. Still have to save some money

$1,700.00 for that SOCOM II would be a freekin' steal up here. We have one in a shop that came in used and the guy wants $2,600.00 CDN (That's $2585.00 US) for it.
