You have asked a tough question and are bound to get many opinions. At that price point you have many options. I won't steer you toward one brand or another. My advice would be to make a list of all the features you want on a 1911. Then see which manufacturer has those options available. Try to look at and hold as many different 1911's as possible. The grip frames do vary some from different makers. You will know when you have the right one in your hands because everything will just feel right. Hope this helps.
