Hi Folks...new here. I wasn't sure where to post this question, so hope it is OK. Also, please forgive if this has been asked before. Did not see it in my searching.

I'm looking for some advice from anyone who has had experience with SA's Ultra compact and Kimber's Ultra (CDP or comparable). Specifically, I'm interested in how they compare in terms of accuracy, conceal, how they feel when they shoot, reliability, ease of operation in the event of the "worst", etc....anything really.

Thanks in advance. This would primarily be for home-protection and conceal on hikes, etc. Both my wife and I will be using it.

Thanks again.

I own a Springfield V10 ultra Compact and a Kimber Classic Custom,,,,not quite a direct comparision, but between my two guns, you'll probably see in the Kimber a bit more on the finishing touches, plus some bells and whistles, and a pretty tight fit.

My Springfield is fine in the finish department, has what I need in a defensive gun (except for some sharp edges), and thus far has been more reliable out of the box than my Kimber. But, this is NOT a direct comparision. The CDP line of Kimber products are from the custom shop whereas my Classic Custom is not.

That, and individual results may vary. I still use the original mags that came with my Kimber as well as some other relatively cheap ones, so it all depends on what you want/need.

The Springfield is probably going to be less money. My V10 Ultra Compact is stainless and was probably a couple or a few hundred cheaper than the comparable CDP....but you do get some custom features and finishing touches with the CDP that you don't get with the Kimber.

That and new Springfields come with a lifetime warranty.
Which, I hope I never have to use.

Of the two I would go with the Kimber. However,IMO,I think going with a 4" would be the better choice.1911's are less reliable the shorter the barrel lenth.I'm refering to the majority.I also find it no harder to conceal a 4" then a 3".I find the length of grip to be more of a factor.IMO I find the Commander length slide and a Officers grip,as is the Kimber Compact,to be the perfect size 1911 for concealed carry.Ofcourse this all just my opinion.
