Not necessarily......it's not overly expensive to have the slide cut for Novaks. If that is the only feature you really desire, you may still be ahead to buy a plain-jane and have it milled. Tough call....

I'll tell you what. I'm trying to figure out what gun to get: some sort of semi-custom like a Baer, Wilson or Dawson or a Springfield Mil-spec sent to a gun smith. After doing a lot of research by calling gunsmiths up, from posting on this board, etc., if you want a no-frills reliable defensive pistol for conceal carry or "night-stand" duty, a Springfield Mil-Spec is the way to go. (Don't get the Colt due to the difference in parts).

First, out of the box it's just as accurate as the TRP. Second, it's parkerized vs. blued or stainless. Moreover, you can customize the gun with better quality parts verses Springfield's parts. I guess where I'm trying to get at is that eventhough it may cost you a little more to send it to the gunsmith, if not a lot more, you'll get a much better return on your investment it seems. That is what I plan to do I guess. It's either the Mil-spec or I'll get a Dawson Spec-Ops.
