I've noticed the same thing, but never got around to posting anything about it. In my eyes, the Staccato mags are not only almost soft to the touch (no sharp edges near the mouth), the springs are pretty soft. I just load them by hand.

HumbleB, when you say you are having trouble could you be more specific? While my hands are too bad, I do have a bad hip and knees, so I fully understand physical limitations.

No speaking for the OP, but in my case, it's almost as it the metal prong of the Maglula (that holds the cartridge down) gets stuck in the Staccato mags as you're loading. If I use my loader on these mags, I almost have to be careful not to press down too hard or let the prong go all the way into the magazine.
