Would mounting a carbon steel slide on a stainless frame present any problems. I am concerned about lubrication and how the two different steels might effect each other during repeated cycling. Any info would be appreciated.

Should present no problems at all. It makes for a very nice looking gun too, IMHO.

Thanks GrandmasterB, I guess I am thinking about the trouble they had years ago with galling on the stainless guns when they first became popular. I think I'm going to try a two-tone this time. I like rust resistance of the stainless frame, you know with sweaty and skin oils from your hands. Thanks again for the response.

I wanted to build a "Combat Elite" so I bought a Stainless 1991 A1 and a carbon steel slide from the For Sale forum.
a few extra touches and it was born

the Stainless frame does get some rust spots.

Most Kimber's finished in Matte black are Carbon tops and stainless bottoms.
