I'm installing a new hammer and strut on a SA mil-spec, and was hoping someone could instruct me as to how to stake the pin.
Thanks!

Right - they're usually a pretty tight friction fit requiring a punch to remove (or install). Even if the pin is slightly loose, it wouldn't need staking, as the frame surrounds the hammer strut pin, and it would have no place to go when reassembled.

I staked the hammer strut pin by using a prick punch making a small indentation on the pin as close as I could get to the hammer without marking the hammer - did this one time on both sides.

I got more advice that it didn't need staking than it did but a gunsmith on another forum indicated staking is not uncommon and instructed how it was done. My pin was a slip fit so I staked it.

I don't want to pretend I'm a gunsmith or know better than previous posts - but it worked for me.
