Hi All.
I did a quick search and didn't find anything so hear goes.
Mike is a really great guy and put yourselves in his position. Please donate if you can. I did what I could.
Thank you all!!

Hey everyone, most of us in the hobbies of reenacting, muzzleloading, rendezvous, antique firearms, etc. either know, or have heard of Mike Beliveau. Mike has a passion for history and firearms, and he finds these great old guns, puts them to the test, and writes neat articles. Like many of us he has a little tract of land where he goes to escape the world and shoot his guns. Now, the Township of North Hopewell, PA, where his little "Duelist's Den" is located has unilaterally decided that Mike is operating an illegal gun range. He has tried to appeal to the powers that be, but so far they have told him that he can hunt on his property, shoot legal game on his property, but that he cannot set up a target and practice shooting without violating the ordinance prohibiting shooting ranges.

Nitro.45 ----------- word on the street is that your neighbors pitched in to corner the primer market ------- to keep you from shooting all day.
It’s all a distraction. 5 years ago, I had them planting corn in their front yard because the city said you could. I only told them about the primers when they were at their highest price and I had plenty!😆
I wonder about the guys on ranches doing back porch shooting at 100 yd targets. This their own land, and it is safe, but does that qualify for an illegal gun range?
😆 Use your words….this doesn’t sound very good! 🤪
Only needs six-by-three, eh?

HAHAHA! sorry, that was an error in typing. What a difference a comma makes! Should have read,
"looking for a house with enough land to shoot , myself"
Punctuation saves lives :)

He can't have a shooting range in his yard.
The property is not his yard. It is a smaller rural piece of property he must drive a ways to.
It's his yard. Unless he's inside city-limts, they can piss up a rope.

All he needs is a proper backstop.

I shoot - have a range I do it in a manner not to call attention to my activity, All my neighbors are seasonal so I have lots of opportunity for shooting . With that said I would & will not be surprised at some point I will be engaged by the DNR local officer or the local Sheriff . Being a black powder shooter I watched duelist videos amongst many other shooters on YouTube I would be very reluctant to open any public insight as to my activity's on LAND I OWN - PAID FOR I sympathize this situation- Big brother is watching our hobby or how ever you want to phrase it is very unpopular .

I was going to say...ahhhh suppressor, good idea!!! Then you said this 👇

The township guy told him he would need a home or camp on the site. Pitch a small tent that can be set up in 2 or 3 minutes. Instant camp.
hehehahahaha - he OWNS the land, and it's vacant, and he shoots there - and they claim THAT is illegal?

He can tell them he's "homeless" and they are infringin' his rights, sheesh.

That is the ultimate bull****.. Buy one of those damned yard-sheds.

FDM1 ------------- Those folks being Anti-Rights is an unlikely assumption. Their opposition is probably based almost entirely on noise & maybe a little on errant-bullet safety.
Ah, no— they wanted to change laws because they don’t feel “safe.” Every illogical fraighty-cat thing brought up at every single meeting they forced to hearing was because the emasculated things that identified as

pushed by their

Identifying counter-part stated they were afraid for their “lives” as worthless as they were. The people of the community of long standing held their ground. There were no “errant” bullets. The only “errant” objects were those from” safe“ cities like Chicago and north of Detroit. Nice try on an illogical anti-Constitutional stance.

Punk like statement's telling city hall to go pound sand is ridiculous , at the end of the the day this will most likely be decided in the courts , I would imagine his Lawyers advice is to stop all activities related to range activities.
The conundrum that would amplify his problem is that he cannot even make it more safe to appease the whiners. Bigger, better backstops, signage and controlled access turn it into more of a “Range”. I think this is one or two people just mad about the noise.

No noise - sound laws in my county - I did go up to Walker to talk to the Sheriff in regards to my two barking dogs did not mention shooting - Sheriffs Quote Northern Minnesota is not the place to be if you don't like noise ,I will be talking to the complainants not the noise makers!

Watching this closely. I too have a small rural tract 6 1/2 acres that I built a shooting bench on which is a 25yrd pistol and 100yrd rifle targets. Of course I built backstops around each area with tall and wide dirt berms reinforced with 1 foot diameter logs to retain the 20 ft deep dirt. Then posted bright orange signage around my property warning a live fire range. The Sheriff Department is on speed dial and they are fully aware of me and my habits. I hope Mike files lawsuits against who ever is trying to hurt him. He has to fight back and we all must support him and his liberty.

In the wider context this is alarming: Consider:
Government drives up price of fuel making it less often you can afford to go to a commercial range or club.
Government then says if you own enough land to shoot safely you cannot shoot on your land.
Where is the citizen supposed to shoot?

The idea may be that they don't want you to shoot at all.

I don't buy that anyone is worried about legitimate dangers to safety. Some may indeed be worried, but if they are uncomfortable with the idea of someone shooting, per se, it does not follow that their 'worries' are reality-based or should be in any way respected. Plenty of people irrationally fear things they do not understand, like shooting. The answer to irrational fears is to tell them to go away and learn about the subject not grant the ignorant veto power over others' activities.

It might be some are worried about noise, but I doubt Belevue is blasting away at 6am on a Sunday.
If he loses this battle, he needs to have frequent “party hunts” with his buddies. All of em’ just shootin’ up into the trees. Careful what you wish for…..

Again, if he loses this thing, it might just be that he has routine sunup butterfly hunts before breakfast and church. 💥💨💥💨
FDM1 ----------------- So now these people whom you describe as Anti-Rights and COMMUNIST (that you say fear for their lives, but NOT from bullets????) are TRANSGENDER too?

That's incredible!
🤣 He might have something there with the tranny part! Kinda hard to figure out a complex situation when you can’t even figure out a very simple one…….
