Is the mainspring housing on the newer STI Duty ones plastic? I've searched everywhere but can't seem to find an answer.

If its plastic and I swap it out for a steel one the checkering pattern won't match the front strap...

Thanks!

My STI Escort's MSH was, indeed, plastic. I needed to change it over to one with a magwell in order to eliminate some painful contact with my palm during shooting sessions. MidwayUSA offers a few magwells/MSH with chain link patterns that match up very well to the STI chain link pattern.

I went with an Ed Brown model with magwell.

Thanks! The Duty One has a grid pattern however. It's not chain link.

I know that different models have different parts as well.

Anyone have specific knowledge of the Duty One mainspring?
