Yup. Can't remember what gun rag I saw the ad in, though. Just noted the name and figured I'd search it when I got back to my 'puter. Carry size, alloy frame in 9, .40, and .45, grooved top of the slide so the sights can sit lower...I'll have to try to find the ad again.

Found the ad again-Combat Handguns, current issue. 7" long X 4.75" tall, 24 ounces, 9X19, .40, and .45. Gotta believe ACP since it didn't say GAP. Guess I'll contact STI and see if I can get my questions answered.

The STI Shadow is one of the new 2010 models. It will be formally introduced at the 2010 Shot Show.

I think the GAP is very unlikely from STI.

The Shadow is indeed a new STI offering but its already out. When we got the first few in a couple weeks ago there was much excitement about them. Mike said he hates 3" guns but for some reason loves this one. Its not a competition gun by any measure, its a carry gun.

Hmm. Still not on the STI website. I see a hammer shape I've never seen before, thin grips and maybe a slightly rounded MS housing. Variety/choice is good. And if anyone can make a 3" gun run, I believe STI can.

In Skinnergram #119, it was alluded to the Shadow being a smaller than the Escort, pistol. I could only imagine the Escort slide on the former original Ranger/ LS grip length frame. Is the Shadow shorter? The pic does not appear so.

I wonder if they'll sell me just the frame. :) I like those little shorty grip frames for concealment purpose. (Grandfather Oak makes a superb IWB/adjustable single strap for this 3 inch 1911.)

If STI made it in aluminum, I'd try one. Probably similar to the Star PD in felt recoil.

It is stippled like a Trojan. Still not 100% on the alloy but just had one in my hand and we all think its alloy. Dont want to get into making a fool of myself like I did with the Spartan 9 and ramped barrels. A magnet does not stick to it and it feels lighter on the bottom. We have not received official specs from STI yet.
