I recently ordered a set of desert ironwood scales from www.arizonaironwood.com Sent them to Scott Sensing to do his thing. They turned out excellent ! Thought you might like to take a look. If your looking for a pair of first class grips for your 1911, check him out. He does excellent work. www.scottsensinggrips.com

I think they look like hell. I'll trade you a set of hard-to-find original rubber grips for those abominations.

was looking at the website and praise God I left my wallet in the truck....I already have four sets for my one Colt-sure as hell don't need another...

I received a pair of Scott's Desert Ironwood grips last month, from his stock, and they are perfect; double diamond, half-depth checkered.

So Lazy,
Yes, the scales were 5" x 1 3/4" x 3/8". I checked with Scott prior to ordering them and he said that size was big enough for government size grips. Thanks for the comments. Scott does great work!:D www.scottsensinggrips.com
