I've got one of the PC DK models.

It's fit and finish are excellent. Mine came with the flat trigger that the standard DK model has, not the skeletonized one seen on the website.

When I first got it, I had a horrible time with failures to feed; like 2-4 times out of a 10 round magazine. I called S&W and they paid for shipping it back to the PC. I got it back two weeks later stating that "barrel fixed". Since then I've put 200-300 solid rounds through it without a hiccup. Accuracy is what one would expect from a fairly expensive 1911, quite good.

Overall I'm very pleased now and it's my favorite 1911, as well as favorite .38 Super gun. I wish it hadn't had it's teething problems (and certainly hope they don't come back!), but S&W took care of me. I've communicated with another member of this forum who also bought one, he hasn't had any trouble with his at all.

I wonder whether they have the skeletonized hammer now or the one like you got?
The hammer on mine is skeletonized, it's the trigger that isn't.

From S&W's website:

Note the black, "normal" trigger. It's a crappy picture of mine on my part, but it's got the "speed hammer", you just can't see it well.

Yes, I was unhappy having to send something that expensive back right away. On the other hand, as much trouble as I read about with gunmakers' customer service departments on the web, I'd have to give S&W an A+. It was pretty short and sweet. The lady on the phone said; "That gun shouldn't do that, let me send you a shipping slip."

Best of luck with your decisions.

Sure wish there was one locally for me to go buy...I HATE waiting... :grumble:

Me too!

I had to wait for months! I knew I wanted one when they showed it at SHOT and put it on their website in Jan/Feb of this year. I called and they (S&W) said it wouldn't be available until March or April. I called in April and they said it wouldn't be out until the end of May. I placed an order with my local S&W dealer at the end of May, and he couldn't get one in until mid-July! (his normal distributor never picked any up, he had to go outside of his usual paths).

Best of luck and let me know how it handles when you pick her up!
