This is my first post. I love this forum and find a ton of information here, and has helped me jump into the 1911 platform. I have searched for the following information but cannot find anything, and hoping I can get some help.
I bought a BNIB discontinued model number 108282. I took it to the range and it ran flawlessly. Towards the end of my range time I inserted one of the fully loaded 8rd Factory mags it came with, chambered a round, topped off the mag and tried to insert it, but it would not seat. I tried tapping it in a few times with a good amount of force but it still would not seat. I also tried tapping the mag to make sure the rounds were seated properly in the mag. I tried this with both mags it came with, a brand new Wilson Combat ETM500 8rd, and a slightly used Wilson Combat 8rd mag, and a slightly used CM 8rd mag. Same thing. I am using Factory brass American Eagle 230gr ball ammo, and other quality factory brass. I just can’t seem to be able to be able to top off any mag after chambering a round with any magazine and ammo, and get the mag to seat fully loaded with one in the pipe. I’m not new to 1911s, or firearms in general. I’ve never had this issue or ever heard of it. I call S&W and customer service advised me that the mags had to break in a little due to the springs being new and stiff. I have tried a couple different used quality mags from a couple friends after this discussion, but still have the same issue. If anyone has any information or can provide any ideas I would be very greatful, as I feel like I’ve tried just about everything I can think of at the moment to address this issue to make sure it’s not me, or any of the stuff I’m using. Everything else seems and feels great. I just can’t seem to seat any loaded 8rd mag while having one in the chamber. I also field stripped the gun and checked to make sure that the rounds were seating deep enough into the barrel and seemed to be fine. I did a side by side comparison with another S&W1911 my friend has and they both looked exactly the same. Anyone have any ideas?
