This .32 caliber pistol was aimed at the chest of a police officer attempting to make an arrest. The thug pulled the trigger and this is what happened. The rest of the ammunition in the gun and found in the box fired without flaw. The odds of this happening are at least 1 in 1,000,000. Like football, self-defense can be a game of inches or even millimeters. Such measurements can frequently determine who lives and who dies. History is filled with such cases that seem beyond belief. Don't ever expect such things to save you however. They always happen to the other guy.
The gun is fairly old, but the picture is in color.
If the primer/powder had exerted another erg or two, the bullet would have exited the barrel and plopped to the ground. That wouldn't make as dramatic a photo, but it would have been something to see.
If you go to the photo link, go with a strong stomach.

If God didn't want us to own guns, why did He make the 1911?
I had the same thing happen to me years ago. Squib load in a Colt Viper .38 Special (except the gun was pointed at a target).
