There is always much interest in Ted Yost custom Hi Powers on our forum, and rightfully so. Many of our member images are posted in other threads with no dedicated threads of images specifically for Yost custom Hi Powers. As many consider Ted Yost the premier Hi Power artisan, an image thread dedicated to his work is warranted. Any of Ted's Hi Power work should be included, from his early days at Gunsite, followed by Heirloom Precision and now Estate Sporting Limited.

Even if you have posted images in the past, please post images of your Yost custom Hi Power to this image gallery thread.

Show off your YOST HI POWER!

Text on the SRT from 2010 Heirloom Precision webpage.

Browning Hi-Power SRT
Although it would seem not as "in demand" as the Government Model the Browning Hi-Power has remained a popular offering through our shop. Still an extremely viable weapon system, even in stock form the Hi-Power offers a very attractive blending of size, weight, concealability, and of course a healthy payload of ammo. And for those who favor a 9mm there really may be no better platform for a carry gun... but, despite being lauded by many as "Browning's masterpiece", the guns aren't exactly perfect from the factory. Many users find the stock sights too small, the thumb safety less than optimal, the hammer a bit too nippy, and the trigger simply not as useable as the Browning's other jewel the 1911. But at Heirloom Precision we've got a little something that addresses all that and more... the SRT conversion.

Focusing on what you see on the outside... we start with a high-cut front strap that, along with the back strap, is enhanced with our sharkskin stippling...

...toss in a hand-filed beveled mag-well to ease reloads and you're on the way.

Next area to address is the trigger job and hammer... along with high-cutting and bobbing the hammer to prevent hammer bite, a C&S; sear is tuned to the newly re-cut hammer hooks yielding a very pleasant and useable 4.5 - 5.5# trigger.

Along with additional work to the trigger mechanism, the magazine safety is also removed, the trigger face smoothed and polished, and on this particular gun the a trigger travel reduction was preformed in order to effectively minimize the take-up and reset distances that have often plagued Hi-Power shooters. The trigger being our last physical control over the bullet, this is a modification we feel is one of the most valuable as it gets the Hi-Power trigger the closest it has even been to that familiar feel and action of the 1911 trigger system.

After a complete reliability package that addresses the feed ramp, chamber, breech face, extractor, and ejector a new thumb safety is added to the pistol. Out of all the controls on the Hi-Power the thumb safety is likely the poorest execution. In stock form it can range from oddly shaped and diminutive all the way to far too small to be used effectively. Our answer is the custom thumb safety developed by Ted Yost and offered only through Heirloom Precision...

With the controls now adequately addressed the barrel is re-crowned for enhanced accuracy.

The sights system on the Hi-Power, like the thumb safety, can range in usability and effectiveness. And as part of the SRT conversion the slide top is flattened and serrated and a set of high visibility sights are installed. In this case the sights are our Professional Grade parts with a tritium insert in the front sight.

As a final measure the pistol is thoroughly de-horned in order keep the gun as user friendly as possible over long days of carry or extended sessions at the range. As an effort to keep wear to a minimum this particular pistol was finished in matte hard chrome, an available option to our standard polished blue finish.

My photos suck. I'll post the same one of my Heirloom Precision Yost Signature Grade, but it doesn't do the pistol justice. Other 2 photos are the same gun, different lighting.

I only have 1 Yost custom. Always looking to find another 1 or 3. I love the version he does with the nitre blue accents like @Rellascouts. None of my Hi Powers live in a safe. I shoot them or I sell them. I take this one out every couple of months and put a mag through it. It never disappoints.

Mark III that came with FPS from factory that Ted converted to traditional classic sear lever.

The finish on the S&W is outstanding. You have a great collection of Yost's pistols. If I recall you have a Hi Power with Ted now, or will soon be sending one in? If so, what are you having done?

Another Yost. However, I have to honest. I sold this gun to buy new wheels and tires for a Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody that I owned for a couple of years. Sadly, the Yost and the Redeye are gone.

Azguy, what grips are those on your bhp?
Look like Craig Spegel Cocobolo to me. I have a set very similar. 99% of the time that is what Ted uses.

I know the seller on this one. It is a nice build and IIRC was built for by Ted as a personal gun but then he sold it.
