Where do we get it?

It's in magazine format. I got mine at the local supermarket. I guess anywhere that stocks a good selection of gun rags would have it.
Got mine from Fry's Electronics. Damn good stuff in this magazine, I especially like the Maintenance Guide section.

It's published by Primedia, who bought Guns & Ammo from Petersen Publishing Company. It's edited by Dave Arnold, with articles from various gunwriters. BTW inside it they concede that Colt is still in business, but they don't give them much other print. I say it's generally well-written and un-biased, but they sure kept the photo shoots to a minimum. The same STS Gov't Model and Remington Rand is shown throughout the magazine from cover to cover!

DSK, i bought mine at the groc store, btw can tell what gun company did the financing? (ha ha)

is that considered the second in a series, because i have the one that came out before that and if it goes in order the next one will be "the complete book of the 1911 in competition" just my guess anyway

good rag though, already read it a couple of times

Is that the one with the SVI and a GI model side by side in front? If so, then it sure is great! I got mine last June when I was waiting for the papers on my first pistol (1911 no less!) to get processed.

I learned a lot from that mag combined with some advice from this board and it helped me get through the waiting period.

Can some one send me a copy of this?

I live in Greece and I haven't seen it here in the news stands.

Your help will be really appreciated.

Kind regards

You got that right KS. My wife and I were doin a little Xmas shopping at Barnes&Noble book store this weekend and lo and behold on the bottom shelf of the magazine rack was my 1911 mag dream come true.!!I couldn't believe it. Now for the past 4days it has accompanied me from Bed to Reading room, (toilet) Every day.HeHe! Powderhound..
Is this one just a compilation of 1911 articles from the last couple of years, or is there actually new material? G&A has a bad habit of recycling articles as filler material.

Yeah is this the one you guys are talking about. Because if it is it has been out awhile. If it isn't I'll need to go run out to a newstand now and get one.

John C, welcome to the forum. If you guys don't know John has the www.m1911.org web site. A great site with tons of information on the 1911.

Anyway, John if I can find a copy, I let you know and figure how to get it to you.

Thanks guys! I'll get me a copy.

BTW, John welcome to the board. I've learned much of 1911 knowledge from his web site before coming here. Even so, I still go back and forth between these 2 sites to get myself up to date. Thks John.
Hey guys,
The complete book of the combat 1911 - What month did it came out? I'm looking for one at the magazine stand, are there dates on the cover?

thanks

Recycled material.
My local Safeway's magazine stand had three copies put on sale today 12/7/01. My shows that this issue is to be displayed until 02/26/02.

Looks to have an abundance of good info. Quick scan of holster article left out the Galco holsters that I have bought.

Price of mag was $4.99. I think it is well worth this price.
It looks like it was published by the same publisher as the one that came out with the issue I got sometime on June. Mine's called "The Complete Book of the 1911" without the Combat part. It also had a maintenance guide (cut from Ed Browns Bench Guide or something like that), "Colts for Cops" etc. This looks like a newer issue. I hope I can find one and that they didn't recycle anything from the previous title.

Thanks for the info and scan ScorpionVI.

I finally saw it last night at a bookstore. I flipped through it and passed on it. I'm sure it's got some good info but like others said it did have a lot of recycled info in it.

Thanks again
