Can someone give me a brief example on what the difference is? I am rather new to hand guns...

If you were given a choice to own a 1911 with a internal, or a external extractor which would you choose? Why would you choose the internal/external over the other? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately this topic has been beaten to death, to the point where I just think I heard a collective "ughhh" from the rest of the members. Please try to use the forum's search feature to research the information you need. Trust me, there are about a billion threads here on the subject already.

Just to put it in a nutshell, if you're a new 1911 user and don't have an opinion on internal vs. external extractors it won't matter which one you go with. It's like choosing either an SUV or a minivan, either one is going to work for you unless you have a particular dislike for one or the other.
