the big gunshow is this weekend in tulsa ok. i have scraped together about 150 bucks to take to the show. i have decided that i want to take my glock 30 and try and pay some diff on a series 80 colt commander. for some reason i have began to fancy the stainless comm. the main reason i want it so for conceal carry when i have to were a chest holster. but i think it will compliment my my other two colts nicely.

it would also replace the glock as a backup gun in my patrol car.

i honstly can't say anything bad about my glock 30, its just i don't use it anymore, i carry only colts on duty and off.

wish me luck, if i can't find the colt i want my second choice is a kimber pro carry, but gosh i hate that its not the orginal design! i'm not a fan of guide rods or bull barrels in 1911's.

anyway will post about it saturday night, hope the preice of colts isn't toooooo high, seeing how colt is out of business! ( sorry guys, i had to say that, as crazy as that thought is!!!!!!!!!!!!)
oh, my 8 year old girl is going, she loves gun shows, swears one of my colts is really her's and she wants to buy a butterfly knife.
( i love my kids!!!)

well, i'd say the kimber will be way more than the colt. get rid of that plastic gun and get the colt.

Don't pass up a nice blued Commander or a pre-Series 80. You can always have it refinished in a high-tech coating for rust resistance. A stainless one would be nice, though. I used to have one, but I got rid of it as I simply can't shoot Commanders as well as a Gov't Model.

BTW don't pass up a Lwt. Commander either. Don't fall for the "aluminum is fragile" BS. If you can afford to wear an alloy Commander out then you can afford to buy another one.

In concealed carry thinking. I would say the Commander would come in third to the Kimber you mentioned(In a two gun race). My Officer would finish third also. The Officer and Commander are small but still heavy. Its a bulky 45 and weight can't be match. From a steal to an aluminum. To a none can touch the Glock composite and don't pretend too. Hope I helped. If the question involved anything but carry. I would say Colt 1911s everytime. But even the steel Officers like to weigh on the whatever their hangin on.

ALRIGHT, i got rid of the glock today.

the only thing i found that i had boot money for was a stainless colt 91A1 commander, its got the old rollmarks, but at least the side of the slide has been polished. its a pretty gun, even with the big rollmarks on the side.

the prices on some guns at the show were almost sickening, while others seemed to have pretty good deals. i concentrated on colts today since thats what i was looking for.

anyway, took the gun out back when i got home, (oiled and inspected first) and ran some magazines through it. flawless so far with 230 grain ball rounds, will try hollowpoints after a few rounds.

i have to say i'm happy with the gun, now me and the family just eat soup for the next two weeks, but i'll take em out to eat next pay day.
