Hello everyone,
I purchased a Thompson Custom 1911 CAF with the aluminum frame. I like this pistol because it is a straight shooter and has not given me a lot of trouble since buying it. i had one problem that was solved by putting a new slide stop in. I recently was thinking about a new finish for it but couldn't afford it at the time. So I decided to buy some #400 and #600 sandpaper and try to polish up the slide a little. As you can see by the picture the job turned out better than I thought it would. The slide was a matte stainless. It took a few hours of rubbing but I'm retired and have lots of time. Now can anyone give me ideas for grips? I bought a set of cocobolas and they are okay but, well, you know. I have over 1000 rounds through this baby and she is my daily carry. I am crazy about this Thompson.

Very nice looking gun , I use alumagrips on my carry gun, they just flat out work, and you don't have to worry about tearing em up.
