It will take forever to acquire it, imo. They run things in 'lots'. Officer slides, commander slides, government slides, 6" long slides, and then the least requested of all ... 7" slides. Different calibers are treated the same way; in lots. I am sure that you will be happy with your Fusion, but I bet it takes 12 - 18 months or more to receive such a rare build. I don't have any inside knowledge, just what people have posted complaint-wise on the Fusion Facebook page. FWIW, I have a Fusion 6" .45 that I am very happy with, but it took much longer to arrive than promised. I have noticed that you can no longer order online from them, so just give them a call and see what they have to say.
So perhaps you can see your way towards going with a seven inch gun. Go for it and let us know how it works out for you. I have been looking at a six inch gun myself for a while. Have not been there yet.
I'm still looking and trying to decide. I think maybe this year I've just got a few coins in my pocket rubbing together and I'm looking for something to do with them. There's nothing I need. Nothing in particular I even want. I had a wild idea that it would be fun to show up at a steel challenge match with a violin case and a giant off-the-wall 7" 1911 inside, but even then, it would only be a novelty. I can't think of any practical application for same - except for the 7" sight-picture.
Taking out my Suppresed H&K Mark 23 usually gets some interesting looks. Just a bit less than eighteen inches overall.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a 7 inch gun? Could always use it as a billy club if you run out of ammo I guess? Man that thing would be long!
AMT used to make a 7” 1911 - you can find some photos of them or look them up on YouTube - and every once in a while, you’ll see one used.
but ... AMT was also notorious for quality control problems and their 7” Hardballer had a reputation for being unreliable cycling.
I'm in this camp. I have a SA 1911 5" in 10mm I am very happy with. I had the long slide SA 10mm with 6" slide and I found it not enjoyable to shoot at the range as it is HEAVY in the 1911 platform. I don't have a true need for a 6" or long for that matter in 10mm but if I did the Glock platform would help with the weight issue, at least for me and my experience. The recommendation is try it out even at 6" in a 1911 before you buy. Luckily for me I was able to sell at under a $100 loss to a friend so wasn't a bad hit.
No interest in a 6" 1911 much less than a 7" . Guess it depends on what your needs are . For a hog gun it would be ok in a cross chest rig maybe more as back up with hot heavy hard cast loads . For hunting there are to many revolvers and cartridge choices that can far exceed what a 10mm can do after all the 357mag can match or exceed anything a 10mm can do .

I've been intrigued by Fusion's 7" guns for a while and have been wanting to do a .45 build with their 7" slide and barrel (not for any practical reason, just for the novelty of "1911? That's not a 1911. THIS is a 1911"). (apologies to Crocodile Dundee). Nothing is in stock, though. I inquired about when the 7" components might be available again, and was told to check with them again this winter.
i wouldn't bother in .45. i had a fusion 5" and a kimber 6 in. 10mm. the 5 had several experiments built in. great gun, my grandson took it! the 6in is much easier for me to hold at long range, so much so i invested in a accuracy x 6in. i have found the 10mm a great woods gun. penetration is very good, energy is fair. i don't think the 7 in would be as easy to use as the 6. i carry in a chest holster, weight is fine. i much prefer the 6 in for 10mm. i shoot hogs. as always ymmv

I followed Fusion on Facebook for awhile during the waiting period for my own 6" to get done. There was a fellow posting about his 7" upper that had been delayed for over a year. His comments kept 'disappearing'. He wasn't a happy camper to say the least.
Fusion runs things in batches, which is a smart way to do it. For example, they will run a bunch of Commander slides, then a bunch of Government slides, and if they have accumulated enough orders, they will whip out some 6" Longslides. They do 7" slides few and far between because of very low demand.
It seems any cartridge requiring 7” of barrel to efficiently burn its powder is rimmed and has “Magnum” after the number. Other than sight radius I don’t see a gain with a 7” 1911.
I have a 6” Clark long slide 1911 in 45 ACP and greatly prefer the 5” Gov’t Model length.
I have a 5” 1911 with the same Bomar rib as the Clark 6” pistol and greatly prefer the balance of the 5”. Just input to consider.

A couple of months ago, there was an all-10mm issue of Firearms News (fka Shotgun News), and they tested the same rounds through multiple guns, including some AR-based 10mm pistols with longer barrels, and the velocity difference between 5" and 7" is negligible. Selecting slower-burning powders for the longer barrels would probably eke out a few more FPS, but for a packing gun, I don't think a 7" barrel really gets you anything in exchange for the additional weight and bulk.
