I was wondering if anyone out there has any tips for making the good old M1 carbine more reliable, also if there any particular mags that are best. Thanks for any responces.

For some reason, my brother's IAI M1 Carbine loves American Eagle ammo, but doesn't like Winchester. So choosing the right type (brand) of ammo might help.

As for mags, I would try to stick with quality GI issue mags. There are lots of poor-quality, commercially manufactured 30-round mags, for example.

Hmmm...I remember reading an article a while ago that listed the characteristics to look for. If I find it, I'll post it here.

I can tell you how I made my M1 more reliable. I sold it and bought an M1 Garand and parked it where the carbine used to sit.
